Examples of different kinds of waterborne vessels, very different in size and shape but actually functioning according to the same mechanical principles. When studying naval architecture you will learn about ship hydrostatics, stability, resistance, propulsion, and energy efficiency; manoeuvrability; the dynamics and statistics of water waves and ship motions in waves; ship structure mechanics; world seaborne transportation; and much more.
When studying naval architecture at KTH you will also learn about the principles of ship design and apply this knowledge in realistic projects where you will face the challenge of designing large cargo ships for worldwide operation, high-speed boats, underwater systems, and other types of specialized vessels.
