CABS - Active safety in heavy vehicles


The project deals with active safety in heavy vehicle combinations, with the focal point on the tractor and semitrailer combination, while the potential of adapting the results onto other vehicle combinations, as truck and full trailer and articulated bus, are investigated as well. The project goals are the development of a system for automatic supervision of dynamic stability criteria and the development of an active control system that supports the driver in critical driving situations: detecting any tendency of rollover or yaw instability and suppressing it. CABS is a collaboration project between Scania, KTH and VTI, The Swedish Road and Transportation Research Institute.
